What is Subtivir?

Subtivir ™  offers an innovative combination of ingredients that support the production of antibodies, stimulate the immune system and attack pathogens, with a focus on the respiratory system. Respiratory viral infections are known to be prevalent during the flu season.

Immunoglobulins, also known as antibodies, act as a critical part of the immune response by recognizing and binding specifically to antigens, such as bacteria or viruses, helping to destroy them.

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) antibodies are found in the mucous membranes of the lungs, sinuses, stomach and intestines, but also in fluids such as saliva and blood.

Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the most common type of antibody in the blood and other body fluids. These antibodies protect against infections by "remembering" which germs the body has previously been exposed to.

While standardized bovine colostrum provides immunoglobulin G (IgG),  Bacillus subtilis  stimulates the production of immunoglobulin A (IgA).

IgG-rich colostrum helps support immune function in the upper respiratory tract 1,2  (Health Canada Bovine colostrum monograph; Ulfman et al-2018).

Bacillus subtilis supplementation   during the winter is a safe and effective way to stimulate immune responses by inducing a higher concentration of IgA 3 antibodies  (Lefevre et al. -2015). IgA antibodies are very important for lung health and can neutralize viruses 4, 5  (Torax - 1986; Mazanec et al. - 1992).

 Andrographis paniculate, standardized at  30% Andrographolide, has been shown to be superior to placebo in reducing the severity of symptoms in upper respiratory tract infections, such as improving the dominant symptoms, improving the intensity and frequency of coughing, and the severity of sore throat symptoms 6 , 7  (Hu et al -2017; Coon et al -2004). Andrographolide has broad-spectrum antiviral properties by restricting virus replication and virus-induced pathogenesis 8  (Gupta et al. 2017).
